Data Protection and Privacy

Maintaining safe protection and privacy of personal information is a vital part of my practice as an Art therapist.  This document describes my data protection and privacy policy, in line with good practice and relevant legislation, including the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018)

Why do I collect personal information?

The purpose of the information collected is to record who I am seeing and ensure that I am able to communicate with clients as necessary for my work.

Brief notes of our sessions

Your contact details (including name, address, telephone number, email address)

Relevany emails and texts as recommended by professional bodies and insures

How do I store, use, share and disclose our site visitors’ personal information?

This website is hosted on the Wix.com platform.  Wix.com provides us with the online platform that allows us to sell our services to you.  Your data maybe stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications.  They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.

I take the following measures to ensure your information is stored securely:

Paper documents are kept in a locked filing cabinet

The therapy contract signed at the beginning of our work is stored separately to session notes.

Session notes do not contain and information that would identify you or others you discuss in person

Email addresses and mobile numbers are kept on password protected devices only

When information is no longer required it is deleted and shredded

Paper records are kept for 7 years after the therapy has ended in accordance with professional and insurance guidelines

There are limits to the protection of private information where disclosure is legally mandated and/or concerns child protection and significant risk of harm.

You are entitled to have access to the personal data that I hold about you via a subject access request.  I will respond to your request within one calendar month.

How do we communicate with our site visitors?

We will contact you if you complete the contact form requesting a call back, to change appointment times, to collect monies owed, to send updates about the service, or as otherwise necessary to contact you to enforce our User Agreement, applicable national laws, and any agreement we may have with you.  For these purposes we may contact you via email, telephone, text messages, and postal mail.

How do you use cookies and other tracking tools?

Wix uses cookies for the following:

• To provide a greater experience for visitors

• To identify users of the site

• To monitor and analyse the performance, operation and effectiveness of Wix’s platform

• To ensure the platform is secure and safe to use

When you send a message via the website form and as part of the process, I collect the personal information you give such as your name, address, email and phone number.  Your personal information will be used for the specific reasons stated above only.
